Iskcon Temple - Tirupati

ISKCON is the short form of The International Society of Krishna Consciousness, a world famous spiritual organization which is working to develop the Lord Krishna’s devotion throughout the world. Isckon was formed in 1968 by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.


 History :


On the 10 th April 1984, a small temple was inaugurated by installing the most beautiful ‘Archa Vigraha' if Sri Sri Radha Govinda. In Order to effectively carry out the mission of broadcasting the science of Vedic Knowledge, a master plan is made in the year 1997 with an approximate cost of Rs. 15 Crores expected to be completed by 2005.


Iskcon Tirupati was constructed with modern design and looks very beautiful. It is a rich temple. It is a big temple and has a beautiful garden in front of it.It has a rich guest house for accommodation and a modern restaurant (Hotel Govindam) in the temple.It is the must visit temple for every Hindu.


Temple Schedule



3.30 a.m. - Devotees rise, take bath and put on fresh clothing.

4.15 a.m. - Mangal Arati. First ceremony of the day.
4.50 a.m. - 5.15 a.m. Japa-meditation period. A devotee is required to chant 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna maha mantra (about 2 hours) each day.
6.30 a.m. - Srimad Bhagavatam Discourses
7.45 a.m. - Shringar Darshan Arati.
8.00 a.m. - Guru Puja.
9.30 a.m. - Prasadam-simple but substantial main meal of the day consisting of rice, dhal, vegetable and chapaties.
10.00 a.m.- Devotional duties
5.00 p.m. - Devotees shower & prepare for evening temple programme-evening prasadam consisting of filing but lighter meal, milk, fruits.
6.30 p.m. - Tulasi Arati.
6.45 p.m. - Sandhya Arati.
7.30 p.m. - Class on Bhagavad-Gita.
8.45 p.m. - Study period.
9.30 p.m. - Devotees retire for the day.

How to Get Here :

It is at the bottom of Tirumala hills and very near to kapila theertham. 2 to 3 kms away from tirupati bus stand and railway station.
