Ksheerabdi Dwadasi




Ksheerabdhi Dwadasi is observed on 12th day of the waxing phase of the moon in  Karthika Masam.It is also called as Chiluku Dwadasi or Yogini Dwadasi or Brindavana Dwadasi.It is very auspicious for Goddess Tulsi and Lord Vishnu.Tulsi plant and Amla Tree are worshipped on the day.

It is believed on this day  ksheera sagara Manthan for Amrutham (Nectar) was stared by Gods and Demon. It is believed that Lord Vishnu had married Goddess Lakshmi on this day and hence people celebrate this as the Ksheerabdi Dwadasi.Lord Vishnu is worshipped in the form of a saligrama and devotees perform the tulsi vivah. Vishnu and tulsi are worshipped together and the saligrama is placed alongside the tulsi plant and the wedding is performed.

Tulsi puja are performed in houses as well as in temples. They are decorated with flowers and apply turmeric and kumkum to it. Many people believe lord vishnu visits earth on this day.It is good to offer Amla fruit to God Vishnu and also light a MahaJyothi made from 365 wicks.Tulsi vivah is done in almost all places.
