Margashira masam is the ninth month in hindu traditional calendar.

According to Amavasyant Calendars this month begins on 30th November 2016 and ends on 29th December 2016.

As per  Purnimant Calendars this month starts on 15th November 2016 and ends on 13th December 2016.

Marghashira means moon enters into Mrugashira Nakshatra. Worshiping Lord Vishnu is highly  auspicious in this month. Lord sri krishna also mentioned about this month in Bhagavat Gita. Devotees observe Margashira Lakshmi vrat on all thursdays. Devotees observe river bath in sacred rivers. Reading Vishnu Sahasranama is highly auspicious in this month.
