Grandest Hindu Temple of the World will Charm Your Heart

The Akshardham temple in Delhi made its way to the Guinness Book of World Records in 2007 for being the world's largest Hindu temple complex. This temple has been in news lately, first because of the threath to its security by micreatants, and also due to the death of its founder, His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj.

Nevertheless, this beautiful temple still attracts thousands of visitors even after almost a decade of its opening. The temple was officially opened on 6 November 2005 by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Almost 70 percent of all tourists coming to Delhi make a point to visit this temple. 

Grand premises :

The majestic Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple stands apart as the largest Hindu temple in the world. It measures 356 ft. long, 316 ft. wide and 141 ft. high, covering an area of 86,342 sq. ft. The special feature of the temple is that it has been ornately hand-carved in stone, and been built without structural steel.

His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the internationally revered spiritual leader and head of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, passed away in August this year. 

His name was entered in the Guinness Book for constructing a record 713 mandirs (temples) in five continents between April 1971 and November 2007.
