VISAKHA-AUSPICIOUS MONTH OF WITH THE BIRTH ANNIVERSARIES OF GREAT SAINTS
The holy month of Visakha is considered to be propitious as the birth anniversaries of five great saintly persons and the Jayanthis of two important Hindu deities fall in the same month.
The month began with the millennium birth anniversary of Sri Vaishnava Acharya Sri Ramanuja Charya on May 10 who propagated Visistadwaita while the immediate day on May 11, Shankara Jayanthi was observed in commemoration of the famous Adwaita Philosopher of India, Sri Adi Sankaracharya.
While on May 20, the 286th jayanthi celebrations of saint poetess Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba, will be observed in Tirumala with floral tributes being offered to her brindavanam located on the sacred hill town. On the same day Narasimha Jayanthi is observed in the sub-shrine of Sri Yoga Narasimha Sway located inside Tirumala temple.
On the other hand, the 608th Birth Anniversary of Saint poet Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya will be observed in Tirumala on May 21.
For both Vengama and Annamacharya jayanthis, the processional deities of Lord Malayappaswamy accompanied by his two divine consorts will be taken out in a grand procession to Narayanagiri gardens from Srivari temple and Unjal Seva is performed.
Meanwhile on May 31, the month ends on an auspicious note with Hanuman Jayanthi where special utsavams will be performed by TTD to Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy, Koneru Anjaneya Swamy and Seventh Mile Anjaneya Swamy in a ceremonious manner.
