Narada Jayanti
Narada Munni was the messenger of God and
an important Vedic sage. Millions of Hindus celebrate his birth anniversary as
Narada Jayanti. It is observed in Krishna Paksha of the Vaisakh month. Sage
Narada would travel through different lokas that is aakash, paatal and prithvi,
communicating information and singing with instrument veena in his hand. He
himself was a big devotee of Lord Vishnu and would always sing devotional
songs. He is considered intellectual as well as mischievous.
Buddha Purnima

Purnima also called as ‘Vesak’ is one of the biggest festivals for the
followers of Buddhism. This auspicious day marks the birth anniversary of
Gautama Buddha, His enlightenment and death. As this day commemorates the three
significant events in the life of Gautama Buddha it holds immense religious
significance for followers of Buddhism sects. Buddha Purnima is observed on the
‘Purnima’ (full moon day) in the month of ‘Vaisakh’ in the traditional Hindu
calendar and during the months of April-May in the Gregorian calendar.
Kurma Jayanti
The festival of Kurma Jayanti
celebrates the birth of Lord Vishnu in the form of a tortoise, known as ‘kurma’
in Sanskrit language. It falls on the ‘Purnima’ (full moon day) in the month of
‘Vaishakh’ in the Hindu calendar. In the English calendar, this date falls
between May-June. According to the Hindu legends it is believed that on this
very day, Lord Vishnu in His avatar of ‘kurma’ lifted the gigantic Mandaranchal
Parvat on His back during the ‘Ksheera Sagara Manthan’. From then onwards Kurma
Jayanti is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Kurma (Tortoise). This
form is known to be second avatar of Sri Hari Vishnu and Hindu devotees worship
Him religiously on this day with full gaiety and dedication. On the day of
Kurma Jayanti special pujas and ceremonies are held in Lord Vishnu temples all
across the country. The festivity at the ‘Sri Kurman Sri Kurmanatha Swami
Temple’ in Andhra Pradesh is very grand and the festivities lure devotees from
far and wide.

TTD’S “SUBHAPRADAM” SUMMER CLASSES FOR STUDENTS FROM MAY 19-25
With a noble and noval aim to inculcate moral values embedded in the ancient Hindu Scriptures and to make the students of today as responsible citizens of the country, the Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad (HDPP) wing of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) has announced the week-long Subhapradam summer classes for the students which will be from May 19 to 25.
TTD will conduct this innovative program across the Andhra Pradesh State to the students who have completed VIII, IX and X standards. Subhapradam program is specially designed for the students to educate them on Hindu Dharma, Culture, Tradition and Morals and also in games. The motto of this programme which was launched by TTD in 2012 is to teach the students on Yoga, personality development, arts, behavioral attitude, body language, discipline, Arsha Dharma and many other important areas which will make a person a complete human being manifested with morality.

Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated
on chaturdashi day of the bright fortnight in the month of Vaishaka.It
is the birth anniversary of lord Narasimha. Narasimha is one of the
avatars of Lord Vishnu. The purpose of this man – lion incarnation of the god
to kill the Hiranyakashipu.
This festival is celebrated with great pomp and
devotion in all Vishnu temples around the world. Navanarasimha Kshetras in
Andhra Pradesh is the best place to visit during Narasimha Jayanthi.
Mohini Ekadashi
Mohini Ekadashi is observed on the eleventh day
of waxing phase of moon in the month of Vaisakha (April – May).Mohini Ekadashi
fast helps in removing the burden of sins and enjoy a peaceful life. Devotees
believe that the fasting on Mohini Ekadasi provide more punaya than bathing in
holy in river.

VISAKHA-AUSPICIOUS MONTH OF WITH THE BIRTH ANNIVERSARIES OF GREAT SAINTS
The holy month of Visakha is considered to be propitious as the birth anniversaries of five great saintly persons and the Jayanthis of two important Hindu deities fall in the same month.
The month began with the millennium birth anniversary of Sri Vaishnava Acharya Sri Ramanuja Charya on May 10 who propagated Visistadwaita while the immediate day on May 11, Shankara Jayanthi was observed in commemoration of the famous Adwaita Philosopher of India, Sri Adi Sankaracharya.
THYAGARAJA SWAMY JAYANTHI AT KAKARLA ON MAY 12
The 249th Jayanthi celebrations of the father of carnatic music, Saint musician Sri Thyagaraja Swamy will be observed jointly by TTD’s SV Dance and Music college and HDPP wings in Kakarla on May 12.
TTD has arranged special programmes in the Dhyan Mandiram at Kakarla from 8am till 9pm on the day. Programmes including Thyagaraja Pancharatnalu, Divya nama sankeertanalu, etc. will be rendered on this occasion. While the Srinivasa Kalyanam will be performed from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on the same day.
