Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated
on chaturdashi day of the bright fortnight in the month of Vaishaka.It
is the birth anniversary of lord Narasimha. Narasimha is one of the
avatars of Lord Vishnu. The purpose of this man – lion incarnation of the god
to kill the Hiranyakashipu.
This festival is celebrated with great pomp and
devotion in all Vishnu temples around the world. Navanarasimha Kshetras in
Andhra Pradesh is the best place to visit during Narasimha Jayanthi.
On the auspicious day devotees will observe fast
during the evening and brokes next day after sunrise. Special prayers and
pooja will be offered in the Lord Vishnu Temples. Devotees will chant the Lord
Vishnu Stotras and Lord Narasimha Stotras.
Nava Narasimha: Out of these
several forms, nine forms are very prominent and collectively known as
Navanarasimha. Ahobilam (Andhra Pradesh) is the only place in India where all
nine forms of Lord Narasimha, Nava Narasimha, are worshiped.
