Giri Pradakshina In Simhachalam Temple

Giri Pradakshina in Simhachalam temple is celebrated on Ashada Pournami i.e. on full moon day in Ashada Month.

It is considered that by doing Giri Pradikshina all the wishes of devotees will come true and their family will be blessed with peace. Special darshan of the temple at the hill top will be provided in the early hours os next day for those who complete the pradakshina. People from all parts of Andhra pradesh, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Orissa participate in the auspicious event.

The journey of Giri Pradakshina covers about 30 - 32 Kilometers.

Major Temples Celebrating Sakambari Festival

The major temples of Shakambari include Shakambari Temple in Sakarai, Rajasthan,Sakambhari Mata Temple same as in Sakarai Rajasthan now at Pakaur (jharkhand) 150 km from Kolkatta, Banashankari Amma Temple in Badami and in Bangalore, both in Karnataka state. There are many more temples to Shakambari in other parts of India, such as in Nagewadi, Maharashtra; near Satara; in Shakambari Devi near SaharanpurUttar Pradesh, and in Sambhar in Rajasthan. According to a legend, the Sambhar Salt Lake was given to the people of that area some 2,500 years ago by the Goddess Shakambari. A small white temple in her honour stands under a rocky outcrop jutting into the lake. This temple is more than 200 years old.In some regions Maa Shakambari Devi is worshipped for nine festive nights with utmost devotion. TTD ISSUES LADDU TOKENS IN COMPARTMENTS

In a pro-pilgrim gesture, TTD on Monday, has introduced issuing of laddu tokens in the compartments itself for pilgrims who are waiting for their turn of darshan in VQC II.

This will enable the pilgrims to avoid long waiting hours to procure laddus after their darshan.

Adi Mulaikattu Urchavam is a popular festival celebrated during Aadi month in Madurai Meenakshi Temple and all other Shakti Amman Temples in Tamil Nadu. During this festival, women carry ‘mulaipari’ (pots of seedlings) and offer them to the Goddess and worship her for a good agricultural year. On the first day the seeds are sown and on the 10th day the seedlings are immersed in nearby tanks or rivers.

Nashik Kumb Mela 2015




Kumbh Mela is a mass Hindu pilgrimages of faith in which Hindus gather to bathe in a sacred river. It is the world's largest religious gathering. It is held every third year at one of the four places by rotation: Haridwar, Allahabad (Prayag), Nasik and Ujjain. Thus the Kumbh Mela is held at each of these four places every twelfth year. Ardh ("Half") Kumbh Mela is held at only two places, Hardwar and Allahabad, every sixth year. The rivers at these four places are: the Ganges (Ganga) at Haridwar, the confluence (Sangam) of the Ganges and the Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati at Allahabad, the Godawari at Nasik, and the Shipra at Ujjain.

Raksha Panchami

Raksha Panchami, also known as Rekha Panchami, is observed on the fifth day in second half during Shravan month. It is believed that who missed to tie Rakhi or getting tied the Rakhi on Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi Pournima, will tie and get tied Rakhi on Raksha Panchami. On Raksha Panchami, Lord Ganesha is also worshipped. During Rekha Panchami, Lord Bhairava, one of the forms of Lord Shiva is worshipped.Some people draw the picture of Nandi the vehicle of Lord Shiva on the back door.

TTD Online Booking made more Pilgrim Friendly


With an aim to provide hassle free and comfortable darshan to more number of pilgrims, TTD has brought some amendments in the existing on-line booking system of special entry darshan. “Now the pilgrims can book the tickets on line till midnight. The on-line quota for Rs.300 is extended to 26thousands and Rs.50 to 4000. The darshan for both these categories is provided from 9am to 9pm every day in different slots”, he maintained.
