Kharchi Pooja at Chaturdas Devata Temple in Tripura
Kharchi Pooja is observed at the Chaturdas Devata Temple at Old
Agartala or Purana Haveli in Tripura.The word Kharchi is derived from two
Tripuri words 'Khar' or Kharta meaning Sin, 'chi' or si meaning cleaning.This
festival is celebrated for seven days.
It is observed in Shukla Paksha Ashtami day in Ashad Month.The
Main event of this festival is the fourteen deities are taken bath and
worshiped in the temple.people offer different prasadams to the deities. Many
Cultural activites take place and large fair is also organised.A large Number
devotees from all across india visit this festival.
