Shani Jayanthi
Shani Jayanti is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Shani, one of the navagrahas or nine gods of Hinduism.It is usually observed on Amavasya day in Vaishakha Masam for south calendars while it falls on Jyeshta Amavasya according to the North Indian calendars.
Planet Saturn is considered as Lord Shani. People observe fast during Shani jayanti day.Devotees believe that who worship lord shani on Shani jayanthi day will be relieved from Shani Dosha.Shani Thailabhishekam and Shani Puja are the primary formalities practiced during Shani Jayanthi, Shani Amavasya and Shani Trayodashi.
