Every
day is a festive day in Tirumala. The temple town is gearing up to host couple
of fests Ramakrishna Teertha Mukkoti and Pournami Garuda on February 10 after
tasting the unprecedented success of Radhasapthami event of February 3.
Ramakrishnateertha Mukkoti:
According to Brahma Purana and
Skanda Purana there are about 66 crores of holy teerthams (torrents) in the
green cover of seshachala ranges. However these sacred teerthams are classified
as Dharmaratiprada teerthams, Gnanaprada teerthams, Bhaktivairagyaprada
teerthams and Muktiprada teerthams.
The Ramakrishna Teertham falls
under the category of Mukti Prada Teertham. The salakatla Ramakrishna Teertha
mukkoti is usually observed on the full moon day in the month of Makara
(capricorn) is considered to be highly divine for holy dip. The people strongly
believe that it will give them salvation and wipe off their sinful deeds. The
TTD priests perform special abhishekam here on this auspicious day.
Pournami Garuda Seva:
In the evening of February 10,
Pournami Garuda Seva will be observed in Tirumala. This is going to be the
first one in the new calendar year. On this day, Lord Malayappa Swamy takes
celestial on Garuda Vahanam between 7pm and 9pm in four mada streets of Tirumala.
