2017 : SRIVARI ANNUAL FLOAT FESTIVAL FROM MARCH 8 – 12



Festival commeces from Ekadasu of Palguna masam.
• Annual five day float festival @ Srivari Temple
• Arjita Sevas cancelled from 8-12

The celestial annual Teppotsavam (Float Festival) of Lord Venkateswara is slated from March 8 to12 this season.
The five day festival wherein the utsava idols will be taken out on the glittering and colorfully decorated floats on the Swami Pushkarini will commence on the Ekadasi day of Palguna month every year in the evening hours.
The holy float festival made its begining in 1468 when the Salua king Narasimha raya built the Nirali Mandapam amidst the Swami Pushkarini. As per the tradition the Utsava idols of Swami in the Sri Ramachandra murthy avatar aong with Goddess Sita and Lakshman will go around the lake for three rounds on the first day.
On Day-2 the float will go round three rounds carrying the lord in the Sri krishna avatar along with Goddess Rukmini. Sri Malayappaswamy along with His consorts Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi will go round the pushkarini for three rounds on Day-3, the Trayodashi day. In the same manner the float carrying Sri Malayappaswamy along with His consorts Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi will take five rounds on Day-4 and seven rounds on Day-5 blessing the devotees.
In view of the unique and glittering Float festival, the TTD has cancelled the vasanthotsavam and Sahasra deepalankarana sevas on March 8 and 9 and arjitha brahmotsavam, Vasantotsavam and Sahasradeepalankara sevas at Srivari Temple on March 10,11,12.
