Chenna Kesava Swamy Temple is rich in architecture
representing the Vijayanagara style. Temple being the main attraction for
tourists, situated on the banks of the Gundlakamma river. The temple Gopuram
can be seen from 5 km away from the city as it is very tall.
Markapur
is also a popular pilgrim destination because of the
Sri Lakshmi Chennakesava Swamy temple , built by the Vijayanagar rulers between
1405-1459 A.D. Magnificently sculptured gopurams , the temple has a beautiful
40-pillered mandapam with carvings of Krishna , Anjaneya , Garuda , Lakshmi
&Vigneshwara with their respective vahanas is ultimately the master piece
of the architecture. 6 musical pillars that produce the 7 musical notes when
tapped is notable point in the Kalyana Mandapam of the temple.
The unique
feature of the temple is that in the month
of December every year the Sun rays falling directly from the Gopuram on to the
main deity of Chennakesava, it is really an architectural wonder. Except to
praise the temple and the engineering skills exhibited by the Architects of
Krishna Devaraya period is the only option left to the visitors.

month of March and April, at that time it is assumed that at least 100,000
