Magha Month 2017

Magha Masam is the 11th month in Hindu Calendar.This month is considered auspicious to perform all the major occasions like marriage, Gruhapravesam and other functions.This month is also highly auspicious for taking early bath in the rivers before sunrise. Both Lord Shiva and Vishnu are Worshiped during this Month.

Magha is a Sanskrit word which means ma- not present, agha - sin.Hindus believe that Goddess of education - Saraswathi,Lord Surya and Lord Shiva in the form of Linga were born. Puranas mentioned the significance of magha snanam in  rivers is highly auspicious.

Magha Month :

• Many Important festivals like MahaShivaratri, Rathasapthami, Bhishma Ashtami, Magha Pournami, Vasantha panchami are observed during this month.
• Surya Bhagavan is worshiped during this month and special pujas are performed.
• In some areas Magha Masa Adivarala Nomu is performed.
• Charity activites are performed.
• Bathing in rivers with cold water gives a healthy body.All skin Problems, blood pressure and other tensions are reduced
• Bathing in seas and rivers will have medicinal benefits.

2017 Dates :

For North India Magh Month starts from 13th January and ends on February 11th.

For South India Magh Month starts from 28th January and ends on 27th February.
