Sarasbaug Ganpati

The Sarasbaug temple houses the idol of Shree Siddhivinayak (God who makes wishes true). Millions of Devotees from Pune and around the world visit this temple every day.Particularly in the events of Vinayaka Chaturthi and some special occassions this temples excepts a huge crowd. There is also a musuem  in the temple .





History :

In 1784,  Shrimant Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa built a small temple in Sarasbaug and installed the idol of Shree Siddhivinayak Gajanan, the God he worshipped. Naturally Parvati, Sarasbaug and the lake became places of worship and leisurely walks for the people of Pune.

Aarti Schedule :

Sansthan Panchamrut Pooja : 5:30 am Shastrokta morning pooja, snana and decoration of the idols is done in front of devotees who present themselves for this pooja in advance. Thereafter, it is decorated and prepared for darshan for whole day.

Morning Aarti : 6:40 am After Sansthan Aarti, the devotees who regularly flock in the morning, perform aarti in chorus.

Evening Aarti :   7:15 pm This aarti is also performed by group of devotees in chorus. The aarti continues for half hour thereafter.  

How to get Here : 

Sarasbaug is located in the heart of the city, at walking distance from Swargate. It is around 4 kms from Deccan. There are regular buses and rickshaws plying to Swargate.
