The Ragigudda
Anjaneya temple is a temple dedicated to Hanuman and
is located in Jayanagar 9th Block suburb of Bangalore. The temple is
situated on a hillock.Here hanuman is worshiped for various benefits:
health, wealth, happiness, fulfillment of desires, success and magical accomplishments.
The history behind the name of the temple is as fantasizing as Hanuman Leelas. It is believed that a big heap of Ragi (a food grain) turned out to become a stone, hence the name "Ragigudda". At the time of incidence The Thrimurthies, Lord Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara who visited the place, wished to stay there permanently changing themselves into 3 big stones pillars.
HISTORY :
In 1969, the temple is the effort of a group of dedicated youth, influence of the situation then and the encouragement of the people around the area which gave strength and determination to bring up a small temple of lord Hanuman at the hilltop and now it is a big temple complex of Lord Sri Seetha Rama Swamy, Lord Sri Ganesha, Bhagavathi, Sri Rajarajeshwari and Navagrahas with individual uniqueness. The temple was built in 1969 and was registered in the year 1972. The total area of the temple is around 5 acres.
TEMPLE PREMISES :
Parna kuteera: This is a
place which resemble hermitage. Yagya, homas and special poojas are
conducted here. There is a small artificially created water fall which
completes the beauty of this kuteera.
Thrimurthy Sannidhi: Beautifully
carved out Thrimurthies on 32 ft. tall monolithic blocks is probably a unique
one, to be seen in Ragigudda only. It is rare to see such Thrimurthies
together on a single platform that too of 32ft. tall. Blessed are
the visitors to Ragigudda to have such a rare darshan of Thrimurthies.
Auditorium: Well planned,
neatly maintained for the purpose of various cultural activities and special
poojas.
Pushkarni: A pond
which provides water for complete temple requirements.
Goshale: There are more than
30 cows. Milk of these cows is used for abhishekam and the remaining is
served to the nursery kids of the school.
Prasadaa division: Both
morning and evening, prasada is served to all the devotees and on every
Saturday devotees are served with lunch. Well maintained with respect to
cleanliness and taste.
Open auditorium: This is an
open place where normally Hanumajjayanthi is conducted. It can
accommodate a large number of devotees. The poojas or homas of large
scale are conducted here.
FESTIVALS :
“Sri Hanuman jayanthi” is celebrated for 12 days.
Special poojas, abhishekasm, homas are the distinct feature of these 12
days. Mahaprasada is served to all the devotees on all the 12 days.
Timings:
The temple will be open from 08:00-11:30 am and 05:00-08:30
pm, but on Saturdays and Sundays will be open till 12:30 and 09:00
respectively.
Mahamangalarthi : Morning around 11:00 am, on sat around 11:30 am and Evening around 08:00-08:30pm.
